MESRINE

A Musical By

Andrew Crawford Bailey & Steve Wilson

Based On The Life Story Of Jacques Mesrine 1936-1979

Mesrine tells the true story of France's most wanted criminal…Public Enemy No1 Jacques Mesrine, a man who made his name during the era of glam rock and disco mania and was then killed at a busy Parisien intersection in broad daylight on the direct orders of the President of France.

Mesrine was a charismatic figure; the legend portrays a man with a love of fast cars, fast women, easy money and ever more audacious and ambitious crimes.

But Jacques Mesrine is also said to have given away much of the money he stole to the homeless, the downtrodden and the street girls of Paris, as well as making a stand against the injustices and appalling conditions in the French penal system.

Whichever Mesrine you believe to be true, one fact holds out through all the lies, innuendo, half-truths and anecdotal stories that have passed into myth since 1979…Jacques Mesrine was simply one of a kind; we shall not see his like again!

His journey was short but his destination amongst the most infamous of anti heroes is assured.

We hope this musical journey inspired by the sounds and sensations of the time is half as entertaining and interesting a journey as his.
